Pick Empowerment's logo is designed to provide a visual representation of our mission to assist individuals, teams, and families grow to succeed with health + wealth goals.
Self-awareness is key to assisting us to grow and succeed unfortunately not everyone has an accurate sense of self or an awareness of how their behavior is affecting others. Enhancing an individual's self and emotional awareness, as well as personal power, provides an individual or team with a solid foundation to enhance other social and emotional intelligence skills to reach determined goals.
Nurture is represented by the water graphic as we all came from the womb. The two peaks/waves symbolize the genetic influence of our biological parents.
After we are born there is a brief time of innocence, we are dependent on others to meet our every need, often an individual's needs are not met. As we grow, we make choices that have negative consequences and experience trauma.
These experiences become our "shit pile"!
Individuals require psychological safety to explore who they truly are. It is important to look back at our mistakes, regrets and trauma (shit pile) but not reside there for long it stinks. Facilitating educational sessions on nature and nurture, providing experiential activities, and asking purposeful questions can assist an individual to enhance their self-awareness, self-management, awareness of other and management of other.
Charlene Pickrem, CYC-P, (MA)CYS, SEIC©, radio host and President of Pick Empowerment provides a caring and compassionate relational approach when facilitating health + wealth coaching.
We all have a "shit pile" and no mater how big or small it stinks!!
An individuals "shit pile" can attract pests or pollinators. Pests want to take advantage of the pain and vulnerability, feeding off it to fulfill their own needs to the detriment of others. A pollinator will be attracted to the "shit pile" because of the perceived value, opportunity and hope manure provides if handled correctly.
Sometimes it is hard to recognize the difference between a shit or pollinating fly having a clear awareness of other can assist you.
As we engage in life goals/seeds of opportunity are planted by others or ourselves. As seeds are planted, we may not be mentally ready to alter our victim mindset sabotaging our own development because the "shit pile" is comfortably uncomfortable. Wallowing in our shit pile will not allow newly developed roots and stems to survive our behavior has to change.
Individuals require awareness of self and alternate strategies/behaviors to nurture their seeds/goals that are holistic and realistic for their lifestyle.
When we are provided awareness and broaden perspectives individuals can choose to empower themselves the "shit pile" becomes a manure pile full of lessons and opportunity. A growth mindset allows individuals and teams to value challenging experiences as opportunities to grow.
If we nurture each seed with growth mindset strategies, support and compassion an ideal environment will exist allowing the roots and stem to become stronger.
As individuals and teams choose to alter their mindset therefore behavior challenges will emerge. Change is difficult if it wasn’t, we would all have met our health + wealth goals challenges will emerge. This natural stress can lead us to slide back into old patterns of mindset/behavior and roll in our "shit pile". We may damage roots or the stem but if proper supports are put in place we can get back on track before permanent damage occurs.
Sometimes others may attempt to stunt an individual or team’s growth creating another challenge to overcome. Our stem or roots may need to alter course turning and twisting. Flexibility is key as is focusing on smaller, more immediate growth goals - getting taller or developing leaves, persevering.
The flower represents a completed goal in all its glory, it is beautiful and it is important to take the time to smell the flower and acknowledge the journey.
The flower has five petals representing the five pillars of mental health well being:
Empower yourself, recognize the strength-based skills your shit pile has allowed you to establish and grow your own garden!
